New Year — New Goals?
Welcome to 2021, everybody! 2020 was a difficult year for many people: it brought rapidly changing and unpredictable situations, creating many new challenges to try and overcome. Some of us kicked it out of the park, some of us struggled. But all of us are looking at 2021 with hopeful eyes… and for most of us, that means it’s time to set some new goals. What’re we going to achieve in 2021? What’s on your list? And, more importantly, what structures are in place and what tools are you going to use to help you achieve your dreams?
Structures? Tools? Can’t I Just Do it on My Own?
This is a great question to consider when setting your intentions for the new year! Of course, the scope of these structures and these tools will vary a lot. Implementing smaller changes—say, drinking more water every day, or increasing our daily step count—usually only require small tools, like setting an alarm on your phone to jog your memory. But what about BIG goals? When we’ve got goals that are really going to push us to our limits, we require stronger structures, more robust and adaptable tools, and more precise, professional techniques. This is where a lot of people fall down in achieving their goals.
What we Usually Miss when Managing our Own Goals
Do you know what people most often forget to do when setting goals? Create an action plan. We dream up amazing goals and get excited to set out towards them… then realise later that we have spent a lot of time and energy beavering away without much direction, so we’re not getting where we want to go. There are few things more frustrating than realising you could have used your time much more productively and gotten further! This is where having the right support crew will catapult you forward and help you achieve your dreams faster.
What’s a Coach Going to Bring me?
If you have reached the limits of what you can achieve on your own, or if your goal is a unique and specific one, it might be time to think about getting a coach. Even our Dalecki coaches have their own coaches! But what’s a coach going to give you? Below, we’ve laid out a quick list of what we think are the most important benefits of having a coach help you along your path.
Coaches bring the expertise required to simplify and streamline the path to your goals. At Dalecki Strength, our head coaches, Kat and Ev, have been involved in gymnastics for over twenty-five years; all of our coaches are committed to ongoing learning and development. So what? Well, that means there are decades worth of experience being poured into our programming: not just every class we offer, but the larger and often invisible overarching plan that is designed to build our members’ strength and skills over weeks, months, and the year. Rather than having to figure it all out on your own, you can take the guesswork out of the process by relying on Dalecki Strength programming to get you there.
It’s easy, particularly when your goals are big and impressive and maybe a bit scary, to hide them away and keep them to yourself. The problem is that if no one else knows about our goals, then we’re going after them on our own—and we all need some external accountability sometimes. What does that look like at DS? Well, it means you have our whole coaching team behind you: we’re invested in keeping you honest, making sure you’re pushing yourself in class, and brainstorming the best ways to help you take that next step.
Put simply: we care about you and your goals! We keep our class sizes small (no more than seven people to one coach) to allow us more one-on-one time with you. Our coaches will always spend time in class watching your training in different exercises to provide thoughtful critique that will help develop your skills. And we’re always available in class if you have any specific questions or concerns. We will also help tailor our sessions to make them accessible for you—regardless of what level of training you’re at, or if you’re managing an injury, our coaching team will always be working behind the scenes to make sure you can progress towards your goals and have a lot of fun on the way!
So if, in this glorious new year, you want to achieve some truly phenomenal goals… maybe it’s time to have a enthusiastic, motivated and expert team around you to make those dreams a reality.
We look forward to seeing you in the gym!
